The Benjamín de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia winery is located northeast of the town of Samaniego, in the Rioja Alavesa, in a place known as San Millán. The architecture of the winery is integrated with the landscape as a sign of respect and sensitivity to the environment. It is made up of three independent warehouses that are related because each one of them houses an activity specific to the winery: production, aging and shipping, and that are identified with a basic element of nature. Macán is made with grapes that come from vineyards over 30 years old that are harvested with the utmost care to guarantee the integrity of the clusters.
After alcoholic fermentation, the resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation: 70% in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 30% in barrels, to subsequently remain aged for 15 months, which is carried out mostly in new barrels. of fine and extra-fine grain French wood, and a minimal part of the wine passes through barrels that are one year old.
