Macán represents a modern and highly personal take on the most expressive and highest-quality wines of the Rioja D.O.Ca. It is a commitment to finesse, elegance, complexity, and power, and is the flagship wine of Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia, the joint project initiated by Tempos Vega Sicilia and the Edmond de Rothschild Wine Company in 2004. 2009 was the first vintage released, and since the 2020 vintage, it has embraced a new approach to its definition, focusing on new plots and varieties, in addition to Tempranillo, in this case with a small addition of Graciano. In the words of critic Luis Gutiérrez, "serious, harmonious, and subtle, more elegant than any previous vintage, reflecting the freshness of the year."
