Description:
Eulogio Pomares is a winery that has its origins in 1920 when Ernesto Zárate undertook his feat of producing great albariños in the heart of the Salnés valley. Currently, the third generation Zárate continues with the same objective as its founder. A consolidated work that has earned it a place among the 100 best wineries in the world by Wine & Spirit magazine in 2014.
Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Caiño Tinto was born on a plot near the mouth of the Umia River with poor soils of granitic composition and whose vines were planted more than 70 years ago. Traditional agriculture is practiced and the harvest is manual in 15 kg boxes with selection in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the grapes are vatted whole without being destemmed. Afterwards, the Eulogio Pomares Carralcoba Caiño Tinto must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in open cement vats and finally the wine ages in chestnut foudres for 8 months.
