Description:
Viña Tondonia Reserva is a red wine made by the Viña Tondonia winery in the D.O. Rioja. This winery is located in Haro (Rioja Alta), one of the most prestigious and privileged enclaves for grape growing. Viña Tondonia is a historic winery, it was the first winery in Haro and the third in Rioja. The exceptional quality of its wines is the authentic testimony of its 137 years of experience.
Viña Tondonia Reserva is made from the Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, all from the Viña Tondonia estate, a well-known 100-hectare Riojan estate located on the right bank of the Ebro River as it passes through Haro. Viña Tondonia, which is known as one of the most spectacular in Haro, forms a landscape of alluvium, limestone and poplars.
Viña Tondonia Reserva begins with a manual harvest during the month of October. After the fermentation process, Viña Tondonia carries out a long aging of 6 years in oak barrels from the winery's own cooperage workshop.
During the aging period, the wine is racked twice per year. In the final stage of the process, a clarification is made with fresh eggs from farms in the area. Finally, it is bottled without filtering and rests in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months before leaving the winery.
As a result we have one of the greatest exponents of the classic style in La Rioja.
