Description:
Conde de San Cristóbal is a red wine made by Conde de San Cristóbal Winery and Vineyards in the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
This winery, founded in 2008, is part of the Marqués de Vargas Wine Group. Regarding its location, it is close to the municipality of Peñafiel (Valladolid).
Conde de San Cristóbal is made from the Tinta fina varieties (80%), and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The grapes come from vineyards between 12 and 32 years old.
For the cultivation of the vineyards, the use of products harmful to the environment such as pesticides and herbicides has been omitted; instead, fertilizers of natural origin are used.
The harvest is carried out manually in 15kg boxes during the last two weeks of September and the first of October.
For its production, after destemming the grapes, they are conveyed by gravity to stainless steel tanks where the must will ferment for about 9-12 days at a temperature of 20-24ºC.
Finally, after vinification, Conde de San Cristóbal is aged for 12 to 14 months in new French, Russian and American oak barrels.
