Description:
Tomás Postigo Crianza is a red wine produced by the Tomás Postigo Winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Tomás Postigo is one of the most veteran winemakers in Ribera del Duero.
He began working in 1984, and contributed various innovations to the way of making wine in the appellation, such as drip irrigation, the use of French oak for aging, or production with gravity movements.
Tomás Postigo Crianza is a blend that is made with the Tinto Fino variety as the main variety, and complemented with the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec varieties.
The grapes come from a selection of small farms spread across different locations in the Ribera del Duero, with a diversity of soils but with a predominance of limestone and sandy loam soils with stones and pebbles.
The harvest is carried out manually, in small 12 kg boxes that ensure the good condition of the grapes upon arrival at the winery. The sed grapes are destemmed and transferred to the stainless steel tank by gravity without crushing.
Each plot is prepared separately. Malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak tanks and barrels and aging in 225-liter French oak barrels for 12 months.
Finally, all the wines obtained from each plot are blended to form the final result. Tomás Postigo Crianza is clarified with natural egg white before bottling.
