Description:
Viñas Elías Mora is a red wine made by Bodegas Elías Mora in San Román de Hornija, D.O. Bull.
Bodegas Elías Mora is a winery founded in 2000 by Dos Victorias (Victoria Benavides and Victoria Pariente), committed from the beginning to producing high quality wines in the D.O. Toro. Currently the winery is directed by Victoria Benavides, one of the women with more notoriety in the Spanish wine scene.
The vineyards of Bodegas Elías Mora (name of the previous owner of these vineyards), located between the Duero and Hornija rivers, with limestone soils with gravel on the surface and poor in organic matter, are cultivated in a traditional way with low yields. These vineyards are planted with pre-phylloxera Tinta de Toro strains, therefore they have not had grafts.
All of this allows Bodegas Elías Mora to produce wines of the highest quality, from native vineyards that show all the character and tradition of a historic wine area in Spain.
Viñas Elías Mora is a wine made with Tinta de Toro, from its own old vineyards located at about 800 meters above sea level.
After the manual harvest, in 20kg boxes, with grape selection in the vineyard and in the winery, a pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for 48 hours. For fermentation, selected yeasts are sown and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once malolactic fermentation is also completed in these tanks, it is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.
