Sílice is a red wine made in the Ribera Sacra area by Silice Viticultores in Amandi, Lugo.
Sílice is made up of Fredi Torres and the brothers Carlos and Juan Rodríguez. They have their vineyards in the Amandi subzone. Their philosophy is to make wines like those of before, that is, minimally interventionist wines.
Silica is a blend of 80% Mencía and other varieties such as Merenzao, Albarello and Garnacha Tintorera. 70% of the grapes are destemmed and the rest is left to ferment with the whole grapes in 5000 liter foudres. It is raised in the same fodre for 9 months.
