Description:
As Sortes is a white wine from the D.O. Valdeorras made by the Rafael Palacios winery. Rafael Palacios is part of a family that has a great winemaking tradition. He is the son of José Palacios Remondo, founder of Bodegas Palacios Remondo in La Rioja and brother of Álvaro Palacios, known for producing one of the most coveted Spanish wines in his Priorat winery: L'Ermita.
The Rafael Palacios winery is located in the Bibei Valley, in the province of Orense in Galicia.
As Sortes is a single-varietal variety of Godello, a variety that had practically been abandoned, and which was recovered again in the 1980s.
The grapes come from a small estate of old vineyards up to 90 years old, cultivated in a very respectful way with the land, without using any type of herbicide or pesticide.
Álvaro Palacios recovers this wonderful property from abandonment, with a sandy soil of decomposed granite.
As Sortes is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels, aging on its own lees.
An excellent white wine, from an unknown variety but with great potential. As Sortes is a dry white, with a wonderful extraction and a long life ahead of it.
