Description: 

Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas is a single-varietal Albariño white wine made by Gerardo Méndez in D.O. Rías Baixas. 

Founded in 1975, Gerardo Méndez's winery was born from his passion for the native Albariño variety, a passion that the winegrower himself expressed with the creation of the Rías Baixas appellation. Currently he works a total of 5 hectares of vineyards that are planted in the highest area of Rías Baixas. These are limited productions made in an artisanal way. 

Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas comes from vines so old that some are even 200 years old. Vineyards that occupy less than one hectare on sandy soils with granite bedrock and from which only between 5,000 and 9,000 liters are produced, depending on the vintage. 10% of the grapes are left on the vine so that they reach the point of noble botrytis and the harvest is completely manual. 

In the winery it is destemmed and cold maceration is carried out. The Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas grapes are then pressed and the must ferments in a pie de vat. Finally, the wine rests on its own fine lees in stainless steel tanks for about 12 months. 

Do Ferreiro Cepas Vellas is a very elegant white wine that surprises with its complexity and depth. A small production that comes from a farm that does not reach one hectare and that is only produced in those years when the grapes are in the best conditions.
