In recent times, fleeing your comfort zone is a recommendation that has become fashionable in all areas of life. It is a mental area that only covers what is known and, therefore, gives you security. However, it is a state that makes you function like an autopilot and, therefore, those who do not leave their comfort zone become lazy and bored. Something that surely does not happen to the Pago de Carraovejas team. A Valladolid winery which, having guaranteed success with its D.O. Ribera del Duero takes a step further by daring to produce white wines in what is called the new ribeiro (Galicia). To do this, arrive at the village of Leiro, in the heart of the D.O. Ribeiro and buys two of the most symbolic wineries in the place: Viña Meín and Emilio Rojo. And this is how, under the name Viña Meín-Emilio Rojo, a new project begins where the Galician denomination is valued. 

This is the case of O Gran Meín Castes Brancas, a white wine made in the Avia valley, where a wide range of soils predominate, mainly alluvial, sandy and granite. An expression of a smallholder character where local strains such as Treixadura, Torrontés, Albariño, Godello, Loureira, Caíño Blanco and Lado participate and where the aim is to promote the most authentic historical Ribeiro. Respectful agriculture is practiced and the harvest is manual at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are vinified in small batches to enhance the richness of each variety and each plot. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and finally the wine remains on its own lees in stainless steel tanks for 12 months. 

Thus, O Gran Meín Castes Brancas is the result of microvinification in expert hands. An unctuous, fresh and friendly wine that puts the D.O. in the spotlight. Ribeiro at the international level.
