Description: 

Alión is one of the most important and demanded wines from Ribera del Duero. It is a single-varietal Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) produced by the Alión winery that belongs to the prominent Tempos Vega Sicilia wine group. 

The grapes used to make Alión, which are born just 15 kilometers from the Vega Sicilia vineyards, come from plots with an average age of 30 years that are harvested manually and collected in 12 kg boxes that are transported immediately to the winery to go to the selection table. The must ferments in wooden tanks with controlled temperatures until obtaining the right extraction that gives it its characteristic color and structure. The wine is aged in new French oak Bordeaux barrels for a period that can range from 14 to 20 months, depending on the vintage. 

These barrels are made by prestigious French coopers and are not used again by the winery after the wine has been bottled, which remains at least 15 months in rest, where it finishes rounding. 

The name of Alión refers to the Leonese council in which the patriarch of the Álvarez family was born, who in 1982 acquired Vega Sicilia, facilities where the first harvests of Alión were vinified, which, in 1993, opened its own winery and was no longer considered the little brother of the renowned Vega Sicilia wines to become a modern and current wine, very different from the classic style of the Ribera del Duero wines, earning its own place and being today one of the most well-known and demanded wines. on an international level.
