Description: 

Pintia is one of the great wines of the D.O. Toro that is born in the wastelands of San Román de Hornija, Valladolid, an area of pebble soils formed by the deposits of the Duero River, and is produced by the Pintia winery, which belongs to the prominent Tempos Vega Sicilia wine group. 

Pintia is a single-varietal Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) from plots with an average age of 40 years that are harvested manually. The harvest is transported in 12 kilo boxes that, once in the winery, remain in a cold chamber for 12 hours with the aim of preserving the fruit intensity of the grapes. 

In addition to the one already carried out in the vineyard, the clusters also go through a double selection in the winery: the first is responsible for discarding the clusters that may have been lost from the vineyard and the second purifies the berries by eliminating the defective ones that are in clusters. optimal. Before fermentation, cold maceration is carried out for 5 days in oak wood vats, and malolactic fermentation is also carried out in wood. 70% of the resulting wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and the remaining 30% in American oak barrels. 

The Pintia winery was born in 2006, after the success of the creation of Alión, a winery that also belongs to the Tempos Vega Sicilia group. It is a modern facility that has managed to achieve the maximum elegance possible in an area like Toro, which usually offers more rusticity. 

Like Alión, Pintia is a unique wine, as no other wine comes out of the winery, which guarantees that it will always be the best possible wine that can be made in the natural conditions offered by this privileged terroir.
