Description:
Sandeman Porto Tawny 20 Years is produced using the traditional Port Wine method.
The grapes, picked by hand, are destemmed and crushed before fermentation, at a controlled temperature, with film maceration to extract the best components. The addition of wine alcohol at the ideal time establishes the balance between the body and aroma of the wine. This moment is chosen by the winemaker following strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities, the latter depending on the variety of vine, state of maturation and desired final sweetness. The wines remain in the Douro until the following spring, when they are taken to VNGaia and enter Sandman's century-old cabins to age in oak barrels, as required by the traditional Port Wine aging system.
Over the years, the outstanding wines selected for this Sandeman Porto Tawny 20 Years are carefully tasted and analyzed, racked and all corrections that the tasters consider necessary are made. The final blend is the result of a strict selection of wines aged between 15 and 40 years, masterfully combined to maintain the unique identity, style and consistency of Sandeman 20 Year Old Porto Tawny.
