Description:
Borsao Zarihs is a single-varietal Syrah red wine made by Bodegas Borsao in Campo de Borja.
Bodegas Borsao, the cooperative that manages more than a third of the vineyards planted in the small region of Campo de Borja (province of Zaragoza), has its origins in 1958. However, it is with the new century and the collaboration by the prestigious New Zealand winemaker Chris Ringland when the winery began to be recognized in the international market.
Although the most cultivated variety in Campo de Borja is Garnacha, Borsao Zarihs is the fruit of Syrah. Hence its name, Zarihs is Shiraz backwards. Some vines planted more than 16 years ago at the foot of the Moncayo mountain and thanks to the know-how of the winemakers Chis Ringland and José Luis Chueca, they have been able to take full advantage of the effects of the soil, the sun and the wind on the grape.
Once it enters the winery, the grapes are macerated for 4 to 5 days and alcoholic fermentation takes place for 20 days in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 22ºC to 26ºC. Afterwards, 40% of Borsao Zarihs is aged in American oak barrels for a year and the remaining 60% in stainless steel.
Borsao Zarihs is a linear wine representative of Campo de Borja with a very good quality-price ratio.
